The Toxic Workplace Response! Fight or Flight?

I have worked for many different companies in many different industries. And over the course of my career I have probably had a couple of dozen different bosses.

When I think about those bosses a few of them were great, about half were good, and the other half were bad bosses. As anyone knows your direct manager is probably the leading determinant as to whether you are working in a good workplace or a toxic workplace.

Countries and companies are taking extreme measures. Millions of people have been quarantined, travel has been restricted if not prohibited, and events of all kinds are being cancelled or deferred.

The economic and Supply Chain impact has been, and will be, enormous with employees unable to work, factories shut down, and modes of transportation idled in record numbers. It will take enormous intelligence and expertise to get the Supply Chain back on track throughout, and after, this crisis.

Labor Laws: Your Freelancer Might Be An Employee!

It was traditionally the IRS’s regulations on worker status that determined whether to issue a W-2 or 1099 at the end of the year.

The Department of Labor has issued additional guidance in the memo, “Additions to Employee Misclassification Regulation Guidelines,” to clarify how classification of workers should be assessed. The Department explains that employment policies will be evaluated using six different factors such as the degree of employer’s control or right to control the worker and the worker’s investment in facilities.
