Video Games

The year is already filled with a large variety of interesting games, many of which are still subject to release, making for an exciting wait for many gamers.

For those who enjoy the offline story mode experience, these 10 video games have been highly recommended for gamers who would rather play outside an online game server.

If you’re in need of some video game recommendations, keep reading to learn what other gamers are playing this year!

1. Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Coming in at first is the big game that all Pokémon lovers have been waiting for! The first game in the Pokemon series of this kind, where the storyline dates back to before the Pokédex, the game’s extensive roster of pokémon species.

The game’s objective is to discover all the pokémon for the very first time – meaning no multiplayer battles like in the previous games. Available only on Nintendo Switch, Arceus has an explorative, open-world concept that was inspired by the beautiful imagery seen in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

2. Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is a sequel in the Horizon post-apocalyptic game series. This story takes place in the western United States after it’s been destroyed by the aftermath of a deadly plague.

The main character, Aloy, is free to explore the open-world map but must battle animal-like machine creatures that she comes into contact with. Some of the main challenges of this game include exploring uncharted territories, navigating conflicts with other tribes, and fighting off the dangerous machine creatures.

One of the most attractive aspects of the game includes exploring beautiful landscapes of various ecosystems – sea, desert, mountains, demolished cities, and so much more.

3. OXENFREE II: Lost Signals

OXENFREE II is a critically acclaimed fantasy violence video game that follows a twisted supernatural narrative. The story is based on an island, plagued by lost spirits who haunt the land and disrupt all electric and radio communication.

A group of high schoolers accidentally tune into supernatural signals and create a dimension between time and space, unintentionally inviting the evil spirits into the natural world. The sequel builds off this developing story, as Riley, a new character is introduced. This game is absolutely a must-play.

4. Little Devil Inside

Unlike its name may imply, Little Devil Inside actually features cute, Pixar-like characters who search for supernatural monsters. The game is based on surviving missions by harvesting supplies and materials, hunting, and making weapons and tools.

Because of its minimalistic animation style, it doesn’t give off the impression of a very difficult survival game, which has been confirmed by developers – it’s rather easy to play when compared to other games in that genre.

Interestingly, this game is set in the Victorian era featuring elements of steampunk with an objective to explore the open world and study supernatural phenomena and strange, unexplainable events.

5. Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Kirby has always been one of everyone’s favorite Nintendo characters, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land has been arguably the best game of the series, making it one of the top games. In the gameplay, you play as Kirby and fight to save the Waddle Dee creatures that have been kidnapped by dangerous beasts.

By inhaling and swallowing enemies, Kirby saves Waddle Dees and sends them back home. Filled with minigames within the main game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a fun, relaxed game, suitable for even non-experienced gamers.

6. Stray

Ever wanted to play as a stray cat navigating through a world filled with robots and machines that are out to kill you? Well, now you can! In this game, you play as a stray kitty who has been separated from his family and is venturing to find his way home.

You are accompanied by a drone named B12, who translates the robot language in order to help reunite with your family. Navigate the dystopian landscape and fend off machine enemies, as you fight to find your way back home in Stray.

7. Sonic Frontiers

Sonic has been around for ages, but Sonic Frontiers aims to redefine the objective of upcoming Sonic games. Now available across all platforms, this game is one of the top games to play.

Another game that is compared to the open-world concept and imagery of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you can explore various biomes, battle powerful enemies, and discover ancient technology as Sonic the hedgehog.

8. Tunic

Like most games this year, Tunic is heavily inspired by Legend of Zelda (more so than any other the other games on this list) and Souls, making for an interesting combination between the two games.

In Tunic, you play an anthropomorphic fox who collects weapons, battles, and solves puzzles, but with an interesting twist – all dialogue is in an foreign language, which the main character is unable to dechipher.

9. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Based off the film back in 2009, Avatar has made it into the video game world. Very much based on the plot of the film series, this game is based on protecting the alien planet and the Na’vi tribe from the destruction of humans. With this gorgeous animation, Avatar makes its onto the list of top video games.

10. Elden Ring

For the Game of Thrones fans, Elden Ring makes for a great, much sought after game. With open-world maps, battles, and gathering of materials and tools, it really scratches the itch for many Game of Thrones enthusiasts.
