Provinces with the Highest Pedestrian Accident Rates in Canada

A new study by MNH Injury Lawyers has identified the most dangerous provinces for pedestrians in Canada, with Ontario ranking 1st because of the highest number of pedestrian injuries and fatalities.
  • Quebec follows closely in 2nd place, with over 4,400 pedestrian-related incidents reported annually.
  • Alberta ranks 3rd, facing high pedestrian safety concerns despite having more than 460 parks and a decent walkability.
The study analyzed pedestrian safety across Canada’s provinces based on three key metrics: the total number of pedestrian injuries and fatalities, Walkscore (a measure of walkability), and the availability of parks. The main data was taken from the Government of Canada website. Each province was then assigned a composite score, weighing the factors mentioned.
